The Winged Reptile
Have you seen any pterosaurs in the skies recently....no..... well stick around you'll see one as sonn as the wind starts to blow a little harder!
I recently rekindled my interest in flying kites, and after looking for a kite that I liked locally, finding none that suited me, I ordered one from The Kite Guys on line.
Years ago long before drones existed and even before that, I got interested in lifting a camera beneath a kite. It was somewhat challenging in the fact that cameras at the time were somewhat challenging to operate in the air from the ground. It took a custom built bracket that held the camera, utilizing a radio-controlled transmitter on the ground to talk to a receiver up top that activated a servo triggering the camera shutter.
Needless to say it wasn't without its challenges, but through perseverance and info found in kite-flying books (no internet) I did find success with photos captured from beneath a kite.
After while my interest waned, probably when my daughter moved on, and I no longer had a kite flying enthusiast to share flying kites with.
With my recent interest in messing around with kites once more, I've discovered that there are kite enthusiasts that are still lifting cameras beneath kites, and with some of the specialized electronics developed for practicing photography with a camera strung beneath a kite, as well as easily modified cameras available, the skies the limit!
Stay tuned.....
