Backcountry Hut
While looking through my collection of Kodachrome slides, I came across this image that I shot at the Elizabeth Parker Hut where we stayed for several nights while hiking in the Lake O'Hara area of Yoho National Park.
The Elizabeth Parker hut is located in a small subalpine meadow about 500 metres west of the Lake O'Hara Lodge. It is surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Rockies. The hut actually consists of two buildings, the main hut itself I'm standing beside while shooting this photo, and the nearby Wiwaxy cabin seen here.
Staying at EPH is a shared, rustic experience, with sleeping, kitchen and living areas being communal, and foam mattresses, cooking and eating utensils provided.
You are expected to bring your own sleeping bags, food and personal items.
