Push Pull Buggy
Ever since I was a kid and my dad owned a couple of Letourneau Westinghouse dirt buggies, I always been fascinated with the various style of dirt buggies that I come across.
This dual engine Caterpillar dirt scraper along with another was removing top soil from this field located near Carsland AB, where I believe there may be a combo truck stop/restaurant planned for the site.
The Letourneau scrapers that my dad owned had 25 yard capacity, and maybe the most impressive dirt biggies I ever saw were in the day when the dam at Outlook Sask was being built which today forms Diefenbaker Lake behind the dam.
My dad and I and a friend stopped in to visit a cousin who was in charge of feeding the 800 men on site. While there we saw Letourneau Westinghouse buggies with 3 scrapers piggy-backed on the back of a single engine power unit up front.
Together these three scrapers combined had a capacity of 75 yards. Needless to say the buggies were not capable of being filled without the aid of 3 D6 Cats pushing from the rear, a most impressive sight to see.
