The Male Of The Species

While taking a walk through the woods, I came across this male Pileated Woodpecker who totally ignored me while I shot a series of photographs of him sourcing out insects in this tree.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Pileated Woodpecker, it is the biggest woodpecker in North America, and is the size of a Crow to give you some idea as to the size of this very impressive woodpecker.

They also are impressive flyers with a loud voice when flying between trees they are working.
