American Dipper
So I'm fly-fishing Etherington Creek in Kananaskis Country when I notice a American Dipper nearby.
Then I notice a second one, and every once in a while they would in turn fly up in to a opening in a low over hanging rock face ring beside the creek.
Upon closer examination from a distance with my monocular, I saw this nest.
Now I have to tell you I've never seen an American Dipper's nest before, and I spend a lot of time fly-fishing the streams located along the eastern slope of the Rockies..
At that point I quite fishing and walked back to my truck for my long lens and a light strobe.
As the pair of American Dipper's took turns catching insects and then feeding their young, I snapped several photos.
Although they didn't seem bothered by my presence across the creek from where the nest was located, I left them alone after I shot several photographs.
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed observing this pair of dippers feeding their babies on this day.
