One Cold Winter's Day
While checking out a feed mill located in southeast Calgary on a day with the temperature in the -30c range, we came across this feeding station for ducks and geese (mostly Mallards). Actually the grain would have been spilt by trucks sitting in this loading bay, and the wild birds discovering this are taking advantage to keep their bellies filled.
After filling up they continued to stay put, maybe dozing off until hungry again, or until it was time to return to the river for the night.
Not the greatest photo shot out the open passenger window of my idling truck, but being wild ducks I didn't want to scare them off by getting out to shoot the photo, but you get the picture!
