Sleepy Eye
I find it interesting as to where one finds wildlife, and in this case GHO's.
I have shot other photos of Great Horned Owls, but they seem to be images of GHO's roosting in evergreen trees, or possibly in old buildings, or nesting in deciduous trees.
This particular GHO was roosting on the side of a cutbank overlooking a small creek located on the open prairie.
I suppose the lack of old buildings or trees in the area answers my question as to why he picked this location.
He opened one eye for my photo, but promptly went back to sleep when he decided that I posed no threat to him.
Hmmm....I wonder if he would mind if I picked the wild growing Chokecherries growing at his feet.
