Camera Trap
In this photo I've just finished placing a trail camera in this tree overlooking this wetlands, although the wetlands is not real visible in the photo.
Lately I've noticed that a lot of the local deer population as well as other wildlife has been visiting, and with my trail camera placed here, I'll get a better idea as to what and whom is visiting after the hours of daylight.
The hatchet was necessary to remove growth that had been growing from the bottom of the tree, as these saplings were about 6 feet in height obstructing the view of the camera in the direction of the wetlands.
Its important that you analyze the area closely when placing a trail camera, as you can capture a lot of pictures of nothing, if you didn't account for what may trip the camera once in place, and the wind comes up causing movement of all the wrong things.
You can get some idea as to how high the water from the nearby Bow river rose during the 2013 floods here in southern Alberta, by the debris still caught in the wire that surrounds the tree as protection from the local beaver population, and this wire at its highest level is at least 5' above the ground.
The Bow river is located at least a 1/4 mile away from this location.
