Shake It Up

While hiking in the Sibbald Flats area, I spotted this black bear out of the corner of my eye as I passed by. He was located about 100 feet away from me on a steep slope obscured by trees, and the opportunity to photograph him was slim to none, what with all the trees in the way.

Still, I managed to snap this photograph through a gap in the trees, as he went about stripping buffalo berries off of the low growing shrubs that surrounded him.

If you look to the right in the photo, you can see his paw pulling a branch laden with berries towards himself.

With winter getting a little closer everyday, and he'll be headed in to hibernation, fattening up is on the bear's mind I'm sure.
