Wild Species
Buck Fever
This proved to be the perfect day to make a visit to the high-country of the Alberta Rockies, as the colors were stunning with a beautiful fall day that included lots of sunshine.
Earlier I had left my truck parked on a backroad about a kilometer away, http://www.jerryclement.ca/HamRadio/HamRadio/i-Q66SHTt/1/XL/1-007-XL.jpg
and carrying my daypack I hiked up a nearby canyon to check one of my trail cams that I have located there.
I had hiked about half-way there when I heard the commotion which turned out to be two mule deer bucks tussling with each other.
They were so engrossed with each other that I was able to shoot this short video of the goings on from a nearby vantage point without disturbing them.
Of course with the rut on, the males have joined the females of the species and this makes approaching wildlife somewhat easier at this time of the year than at other times.
In fact there were several does not to far away that were feeding on a slope in view of the two bucks going head to head.
The video can be expanded to full screen, as it was shot at full HD 1080p
