Soaring On The Wind
I shot this photo while sitting in the open window of my truck, my feet on the seat, and my elbows on the roof to stabilize myself while this red-tailed hawk and her mate soared overhead looking for breakfast on the ground in the form of Richardson ground squirrels that were unaware of the danger they were in.
It was a bit challenging, considering that I was hand-holding my 500 mm lens and dealing with the wind while the hawks soared to and fro as I panned my camera following their in-flight antics.
When shooting photos of birds in flight, keep your shutter speed cranked (up the ISO), and the exposure pushed to the right on your histogram (watch for clipping), otherwise you'll get blurry and underexposed images.
