Badland River
As the sun sinks on the horizon casting its rays on the badlands of eastern Alberta, the Red Deer river looking mighty pretty as it flows eastward, soon to connect with the South Saskatchewan river just over the border in Saskatchewan.
Interestingly, the Red Deer river is only about 16 kilometers in length after it crosses over into Saskatchewan from Alberta before connecting to the South Saskatchewan river near Empress located on the AB/SK border.
The Red Deer river as it flows through the badlands north of Brooks, is very popular with paddlers, some of whom shared the campground we were camped in bordering the river.
