The Survivalist
For a change of pace, and just after sunrise, you find me armed with just my slingshot, having left my longbow in the truck.
I know what your thinking.....its only a kids toy, and that is the impression that most people get from slingshots. You would be wrong in thinking this way, as the average slingshot can fire a projectile at a speed between 150-300 feet per second.
The slingshot that I'm using on this day, I've chronographed at 250 fps shooting 3/8" steel balls which definitely takes it out of the toy category.
I've mentioned elsewhere that shooting a slingshot is similar to shooting a bow, in particular traditional type of archery equipment like recurves and longbows, where instinct shooting comes in to play.
Most survivalists recognize the qualities that make a slingshot a formidable hunting tool, being very convenient to have with you at all times, easy to carry in a pocket while your hiking, or any other time.
Slingshots are very stealthy, even quieter than the quietest airgun, making the slingshot the perfect carry when traveling under the radar is mandatory.
Of course it goes without saying that the key to using a slingshot is being able to hit what your aiming at, and that skill can only be acquired by practicing shooting with the slingshot.
Now you know.
