Trails Across The Prairies
Summer Solstice
I'll assume everyone knows that June 20th marks the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt (about 23.5 degrees) toward the Sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year.
With the longest day of the year happening, and knowing that the first day of summer would prove to be worth checking out, I was up and out of the house by 5 am after first feeding the cat.
I think this photo speaks for itself as far as what a beautiful start to the day just after sunrise. The Bow is starting to look quite inviting as far as maybe throwing a line over it, although coming down it is still off-colored.
A drive to the high country west of Turner Valley yesterday to where the Sheep flows through the canyon looked very inviting, that river shaping up quite nicely as well.
Enjoyed a couple of hours roving about with my bow, releasing arrows at clumps of grass and what not, allowing me to keep my skills up to speed while out and about on the first day of summer.
