Extreme Weather Photography
As you know I embrace winter, and having said that, the day that I plan on venturing out dictates what I'll be wearing depending on the activity that I'm involved in on that day.
If I'm participating in a strenuous activity like say snowshoeing, I'll wear layers allowing me to add or remove clothing as required.
On other days like the one pictured here with the temperature in the -20 C zone, and the plan is to shoot landscape photos, I dressed for a lot of looking through the viewfinder without much physical activity.
That where I bring out my big-gun winter goose-down parka seen here where it is as good as it gets, with -20C while wearing it is the equivalent of sitting in front of the tv at home with the furnace belting out heat.
I've had this parka for more than 20 years, and although it doesn't see a lot of use, I enjoy wearing it for my outdoor photography ventures when the temperature drops below -20C.
Of course it goes without saying that insulated snow pants, snow boots, and mittens are in order to accessorize the parka for maximum enjoyment while out and about on a coolish kinda day.
Well back to my camera before it freezes solid....
