A Shiver of Light
There is a reason why photographers get up before daylight, as a image like this one only happens in seconds at sunrise, then the magic light is gone.
My wife is sleeping somewhere in the middle of all this while I'm out looking for photographic opportunities.
The day before we left home headed out to the badlands bordering the Red Deer river northeast of Brooks where we spent several days exploring these badlands, myself with my cameras of course.
On this morning I was up at 3:30 am and out of the tent, hoping to shoot photographs with Comet NEOWISE visible in the breaking dawn sky to the northeast. Unfortunately the overnight cloud cover didn't allow for that to happen on this morning, still I wasn't totally disappointed as you maybe can tell.
It can be hard to concentrate on the composition and technicalities of the image while looking through the viewfinder, as you must keep your emotions in check while getting the shot before its gone.
