Trails Across The Prairies
Longbow Country
I suppose it goes without saying that this viewpoint is one of my favorites while I'm out on one of my early morning jaunts in the hills bordering the Bow River just south of Dalemead AB.
Most mornings while out this way I will be carrying one of my bows, and that was the same on this morning, although for the first time in months I was carrying my traditional longbow that hadn't been out all winter.
That's because back about a year ago I purchased a new hybrid longbow, and that bow had become my favorite for a time. Still it felt good to be carrying my traditional longbow on this morning, and after releasing a 1/2 dozen arrows, I found the groove that allowed me to place the arrows where I wanted.
Although lost in the shadows, I am also using my back quiver that is more of the traditional type of over the shoulder quiver one would find being used by those carrying a longbow through the ages.
When using my hybrid longbow, I use a side quiver that is a more recent type of quiver preferred by today's bowhunter, allowing the arrows to be easily accessed through the side of the quiver, as well as protecting the arrow fletching from becoming wet on rainy days.
