Bumper Crop
2020 is proving to be the year for bumper crops nearing maturity across southern AB.
With my interest in what's growing in the fields across southern AB, and as I walked the edge of this field to get closer to the elevator pictured, my quest checking out the potential for train photos on this morning, I couldn't help but walk in to the field to check on the progress of this wheat crop.
The heads were filling 8 rows nicely, with what appears enough moisture to finish the crop to maturity, the potential for a 50+ bushel crop ahead in the not to distant future as harvest time approaches.
Meanwhile both CN and CP are having banner years, setting records for the amount of grain they have moved. It seems like every other train I see is a grain train headed to the coast.
