Short Line Locomotives
What's interesting about the above photo that I shot at CP's Alyth yard in Calgary, is the Stewart Southern Railway locomotive SSR 2222, probably needing servicing at CP's diesel shop.
Stewart Southern Railway operates the 132 kilometer line between Stoughton and Regina in Saskatchewan, with six locomotives serving half a dozen farm communities.
The historic Stoughton to Regina rail line is the longest straight piece of track in North America at 132 kilometers, and the second longest in the world.
When I shot the photo, CP 8521 was pushing SSR 2222 and GMTX 214 towards the engine shop.
