Trains and Such
This gallery has been one of my most successful to date for purchases of my photos.
The Conductor
The conductor is giving me the evil eye, probably because I made him walk a kilometer or so when I could have given him a ride.
The story goes that I had been chasing this train, having earlier shot photos of it on a trestle back down the road the reason I'd traveled up to the Swalwell area south of Three Hills.
Then I decided to follow the train on backroads as it made its way on the Three Hills sub headed to Edmonton.
Having chosen this spot some distance ahead of the train, I was puzzled when the train stopped some distance back. Then it begin moving again coming up close to my location as seen here.
I didn't realize the conductor had got off the locomotive to throw a switch allowing the train to move to a second track. Of course the conductor had to now walk down the road to where the lead engine and engineer was waiting for him.
So where it gets funny (well to me) I couldn't see him walking up the road from my location, but I did have my scanner monitoring the rail frequency the engineer and conductor were using to discuss the fact that some guy they could see might give the conductor a ride up to the front of the train.
In my half asleep stupor with my seat laid back waiting for the train to resume its journey, I wasn't smart enough to realize they meant me!
