Dances with Trains
While waiting for this train to show up, I was being kept entertained by the cirrus clouds being formed and dancing about in the skies above.
With the forecast for rain to move in, seeing cirrus clouds confirmed what the forecasters were predicting for our area of southern AB. Its the farmer up-bringing in me, being able to forecast the weather by observing the clouds. Of course I should tell you I've been a life-long weather observer, and have studied the clouds for many years.
Before leaving my truck, I had changed out my sandals for my Mucks, as this field of Canola was mighty wet, or in other words on the muddy side, as I made my way over to a location closer to the track to photograph this train when it arrived.
Beautiful looking crop with no need for more rain at the moment, although that will probably happen, then the farmer will be looking for sunshine and warmth to make this canola field mature.
Its interesting as to how the sound of a locomotive horn carries, as although I had a heads up that the train was getting close when it tripped the hot-box detector located down the track about 10 miles from my location, and heard on my scanner, I heard the locomotive's horn as the train crossed over three different crossings located off in the distance.
Once I shot this photo along with a series of them, I made the dash for my truck, and gave chase to another location I'd scouted several days earlier further down the track as the train continued north on the Three Hills sub near Irricana AB.
