The Pickers
Some time ago while checking out the action on the Three Hills sub, I observed a rail mounted shearing machine sniping old rail lying beside the track in to manageable lengths for later pick-up.
Today was that day on the Three Hills sub near Conrich, as the pieces of rail sheared to length earlier were being loaded. The power unit would move up the track to the next length of rail that would then be picked up and stacked on the car ahead of the picker.
