Power Punch
The tiny Plymouth ML-8 switcher seen here parked by the service platform
part of my HO switching layout, is packed with power. This particular HO model has a SoundTraxx decoder on board, and features a built-in currentkeeper to maintain performance during brief power interruptions over switches and dirty track.
While working in the yard, the prototypical low speed gearing of the switcher adds realism with quiet operation due to the helical cut gears, the five-p0le skew-wound motor with machined brass flywheel near silent in operation.
The die-cast metal underframe and hood along with metal wheels give this tiny loco the weight needed to move a number of cars at one time without wheel slippage or stalling.
Let’s get to work.
