Trains and Such
This gallery has been one of my most successful to date for purchases of my photos.
Assembly Required
Early morning the crew of train 114 assembles their train in the Conrich Logistics Terminal located northeast of Calgary. I shot this photo as train 114 was pulling forward out onto the Three Hills sub, then after the switch was thrown, they backed up to tie on to the remainder of the stack train seen to the far right in the photo.
Those of you that have shot from this location near Conrich know that you cannot see into the yard as seen in this photo, as the location is in a hole.
I got around it this way.....
To shoot this photo, I had my DSLR with my 70-200 zoom mounted up top of a 30 foot mast mounted on a 12 volt rotator mounted in the hitch receiver of my truck.
Although I could have used one of my Fuji mirrorless cameras that I can control with my iPhone running a Fuji app giving me control of the camera, and with live view so that I know what the camera is seeing, I don't have a long enough lens for my Fuji's at this location.
Not having an app with live-view for the DSLR, what I did is with the use of an RF hand-controller for controlling the camera through a wireless control unit mounted on the camera, I fired my camera with the motor-drive engaged while rotating the 12 volt rotator mounted in the hitch receiver. This gave me a range of photos to chose from, the one shown here the one I liked the best.
