My building black powder cannons and mortars, goes back to when I was in my teens, and developed a interest in the the US Civil War Artillery.
My interest really took off, when I took machine shop in collage to become a machinist, and one of my machine shop instructors was also a black powder cannon enthusiast, and like myself, was in to building black powder model cannons.
I continue to build black powder cannons, as well as black powder mortars, and I would like to share some of my enthusiasm with you, by encouraging you to build a model cannon, that will give you much pleasure in building and then in the displaying of the finished model.
Listed here are some of the reference books that I refer to when building model cannons.....
Artillery and Ammunition of the Civil War - by Warren Ripley
Field Artillery Weapons of the Civil War - by Hazlett, Olmstead and Parks
Round Shot and Rammers - by Harold L. Peterson
