7' Brook Cannon on A Center Pintle Barbette Carriage
Brook cannons were among the largest cannons produced by the Confederacy during the Civil War. They were built by Tredegar Foundary, located in Richmond, Virginia and by the Naval Ordnance Works in Selma, Alabama. My model 7" Brook cannon is based on No. S-89, the 89th Brook, built by the Selma facility. The full scale version of this cannon is located in Ft. Morgan, Alabama.
Once I finished building this model, I bead-blasted all metal parts, as well as the wood parts made from walnut, with silicon-carbide particles in a bead-blasting cabinet, giving the wooden parts an aged look.
