Lately, I was browsing through one of my older machinist handbooks that I picked up at a old book store recently.

While turning the pages, I saw a picture of a machinist from days gone by, using a depth gauge that he would have possibly made for himself, and I immediately wanted one for myself.

So what do you do if you want one and you cannot buy one...you make one as shown here.

After finishing building the depth gauge, I also built the hardwood case shown with the depth gauge, to store the depth gauge in.

I am pleased with how they turned out.
