The bottom of my telescope has some interesting features that include for the azimuth motion, a assembly visible on the tripod, that I fabricated from a automotive air-conditioning compresser with a 5" thrust bearing. The azimuth assembly has a adjustable brake, that gives total control over the rotation of the scope through 360 degrees. The telescope is adjusted for balance by sliding the telescope in the mounts on either side. The lower-cage assembly is assembled with Easton-high-tensile anodized aluminum shafting ,used in making aluminum arrows, another hobby of mine. My telescope was built to resemble a starship in appearance (well my interpretation of one), and -hence the name of my telescope - STARSHIP
