Thread Cutting - 1
Photo 1 of 4 - I have this Tap and Die set, that are part of a complete set with their own dedicated die-holder, but the dies proved to be a problem when thread cutting in the lathe.
I realized that a 12 point socket fit them perfectly, and I machined this die holder that includes a cut down 12 point socket that is silver-soldered in to place to hold the dies.
The complete assembly is a joy to use and may be used in a variety of ways.
Once the assembly is mounted in the tail-stock, the die-holder is free to move forward and backwards as depicted in the following photos.
