Belt Grinder Modifications
Yes, this is the belt -grinder that will be shifted over slightly, once I complete this modified base-plate that I am dressing the edges on in this photo.
For those of you that have never used a belt-grinder, you would never go back to a bench-grinder when doing grinding jobs. With a Norton 36 grit Norzon belt installed, the metal is eaten away extremelly quickly. Of course jobs requiring finer belts, you adjust for by changing out the belt to a finer belt.
For years I ground my custom knife blades on a belt-grinder that I built especially for the job. That particular belt-grinder used a 2 inch by 72 inch belt, and it was a joy to grind my knife blade blanks wth it.
One of the best commercial belt grinder out there is the Burr-King.
My belt grinder with this base plate in place beneath it...
