Shop Built Adapter
Here is the finished adapter mounted in place on the push up mast where it can remain in place regardless if the antenna will be in place or not.
With the push up mast mounted on the hitch insert adapter, its as simple as placing the 6 meter Halo as seen in this photo in place on the adapter.
The 3/4" hole bored in the Lexan antenna adapter has a slight resistance when inserting the antenna, therefore no other action needs to be taken for the antenna to stay in place while being used in the field.
The 3/8" x 24 tpi threaded stainless steel stud is for mounting the antenna on my mobile with the dedicated mast that allows for the antenna to be used while in motion, and not used when mounted on the push up mast as seen here, used while operating as a stationary mobile.
As you may have noticed, I use a lot of Lexan and Delrin materials for antenna building. You also may have noticed that I use mainly white Delrin where required, although I also use black Delrin for mainly cosmetic reasons where I feel it adds to the appearance of an antenna. Be aware that although white Delrin is RF transparent at all frequencies, black Delrin is only RF transparent up to 1.2 GHz.
