Tig Welding
I have always enjoyed welding, beginning from the age of 10 when I hung around my dad's shop where he spent all winter fabricating things that in most cases required the use of a welder to complete.
At that time the welding machines we had in my dad's shop were stick welders in both a plug in type and a gas powered welder for doing repairs in the field.
Years later when I decided to go to trade school to become a Machinist, it was required that one of the classes that I attend was the welding class, as a well rounded Machinist should know how to weld, although I had a head start having been taught by my dad years previously.
Still I did learn new skills in welding and those skills became of value when I owned a commercial Machine shop for several years and did a fair amount of welding.
During this time I acquired my first mig welder and today I still own a mig that I use in my home shop.
Some years back I acquired a tig welder and this has become my favorite method of welding in my shop.
The above photo is a shot of me using the tig to weld aluminum.
Here is a description on tig welding.....
