VE6AB Antenna Werks
Antenna Werks - Coax Cables
So your looking at my tiny APRS station with the coax cables that I made up and use when I want to remote the SMA rubber-duck or equivalent antenna elsewhere other than on my HT.
The longer run of coax is RG-58, and the short section that connects the RG-58 to the transceiver is RG-174.
The reason that I am not using a long run of RG-174 from the mini-mag-adaptor on the roof to the transceiver in my vehicle is due to the losses that would occur from using a long run of RG-174 coax.
Therefore I made up a RG-58 coax cable using SMA/RG-58 connectors, and then for convenience I made up a short coax cable from RG-174 utilizing a straight SMA/RG-174 connector for coupling up to the Rg-58 coax cable, and on the transceiver end, I used a 90 degree SMA/RG-174 connector.
All the coax connectors used are crimp connectors purchased from my local electronics supply outlet.
