VE6AB Antenna Werks
Gearmotor Antenna - The Innards
Well sort of, but what your seeing is the lower mast assembly with the upper two visible 6-32 allen drive button head capscrews, that hold the gearhead motor in place, as well as the thrust bearing assembly. The lower 3 machine screws hold the mount adapter in place in the lower end of the mast. This adapter needed some milling work cutting a channel allowing the wiring from the gearhead motor to exit through the grommet that protects the wiring. These wires will be covered in split loom to protect the wires.
I also will install the electrical plug for the gearhead motor that matches the existing one on my other HF antenna, that mates to the one in my mobile.
Both antennas have matching antenna mount couplers as well as matching whip couplers, allowing for either to be switched out in moments.
