Everyday Essentials
Shown is some of the essential gear that I carry in my daypack while out on the trail, possibly while hiking in to a remote location shown on the topo map to operate from, or to fly-fish a trout stream located along the eastern slope of the Alberta Rockies.
Its crucial that you are prepared for any un-planned situations that could develop, and carrying a basic survival kit with you could save the day, or even an unplanned stay over night.
The items shown here....
1 – At the top center is a Silva Ranger CL compass.
2 – From the left is a 225g Bear Spray canister with carrying holster.
3 – To the right of the bear spray is a ERMA SG 67 E Pen launcher for launching flares, smokes, and bear-crackers as included.
4 – To the right of the pen launcher is a Leatherman Skeletool CX multitool.
5 - The flashlight is a Streamlight Sidewinder Military LED Flashlight.
6 - The Life Straw is a personal water filter.
7 – To the left of the water filter is the Yaesu VX-8R GPS equipped handie talkie.
8 – To the left of the handie-talkie is a UCO waterproof match container with UCO Stormproof Matches.
9 - To the left of the UCO match container, is WETFIRE fire starting tinder.
