Just Stick It
I often get asked what I use for a camera while tramping around in the grasslands with my bow, or maybe standing in a trout stream fly-fishing.
With many cameras in my arsenal to chose from, my favorite for this task is my Fujifilm X-70. This very compact camera with a fixed 28mm film equivalent lens has an APS-C sensor that beats within. The X-Trans sensor that Fujifilm builds for all their cameras may have no equal for the drop dead gorgeous images it creates.
I also own a Fujifilm X-E3 that has the same X-Trans sensor, but the X-E3 allows for different lens to be used.
However this report is on the X-70, my very capable stick-it in your back pocket camera that also has a tilting screen, allowing me to position myself in the correct place when shooting scenes with myself in the photo.
Of course you want to know how I trigger the camera, glad you asked, with my iPhone is how through the use of a Fujifilm app that allows my phone to communicate with the X-70 via Bluetooth. The app also allows for live view on the screen of my iPhone seeing what the camera sees. This app also allows for the transfer of images to my iPhone.
When shooting photos in the field in this manner, I use zone-focusing for better control of the camera's focusing system without being behind the camera.
The X-70 makes for a terrific street photography camera as well, most people not paying any attention to it's non-threatening appearance.
Of course you need a tripod to support the camera, and what you see is something that I built in my workshop consisting of a snow-field tent peg and an arrow shaft with modifications made to it, allowing it to store in my field bag or even my back pocket.
The compact ball-head is made by Joby and has a quick-release shoe with a built in bubble-level that screws to the bottom of the camera.
