Negatives and Positives
What your seeing here is a copy stand that I use along with a camera for shooting photos of various pieces of gear that I've reviewed here.
This copy stand consists of a base along with a column that has a geared rack assembly for the camera to be mounted on perpendicular to the base, and adjusted for the height required, depending on the object being digitized.
Normally I use additional lights with the copy stand when photography objects like the tiny Pentax Auto 110 SLR camera seen at the right, although on this day, I am using a light panel to backlight various black and white negatives, color negatives, and transparencies being photographed and digitized.
Once I have the negatives photographed, I open them in Photoshop where I then invert the negatives creating positives.
With the positive on the computer screen, I can then make the necessary adjustments.
Interestingly enough, and all these years later, the digital darkroom through the use of Photoshop, allows me to make edits to negatives and transparencies, that would have been much more challenging to accomplish years ago in a conventional darkroom.
These days although I shoot with DSLR's, I enjoy shooting my various vintage film cameras, that on any given day can include the tiny Pentax 110 SLR seen here, or possibly my Canon FT35mm SLR loaded with black and white film, or even my Polaroid SX-70!
Once I develop the film, I then digitize the negatives that appeal to me through the use of the copy stand and camera as seen here.
