Field OPS Table
After setting up my antenna that covers the bands of 10-60 meters, and laying oiut the ground radials, the next step was to set up my operating position.
That consisted of my Yaesu FT-897D positioned on the compact folding table that I found as surplus at Princess Auto recently, and this was the shake-down cruise to see how it held up in the field.
I have to say I'm pleased with it, as it has features that proved to be the answer for operating in the field.
This table was actually meant to be used with a laptop computer, as the top may be adjusted to various angles and the legs may be set at two different positions allowing it to be used at different operating heights.
The table also has a built in LED light with a flexible arm allowing it to be positioned for the light to fall where your radio is positioned.
The table has room with the radio in place for a logging computer or paper logbook, depending what your needs are.
When folded for travel, the table forms a nice tidy compact package.
For the record, this table is up to the job I plan to use it for, however it is not built to put up with the rigors of daily usage, and would probably self-destruct if subjected to abuse.
However having said that, I know it will serve me well for the casual usage it will receive while set up for field ops.
