VE6AB Portable Ops
Field Day Ops Preperation
Well it's not quite field day, but early morning finds me out making sure that I have all my antennas and radio gear operating to my satisfaction in preparation for field day later this summer.
.
Between now and then I plan on being out in the field quite a number of times, including a up coming camping trip to southeastern Alberta where I will have several of my latest antennas fresh from my shop under operation.
I have been waiting for a weather forecast for the target area that meets my requirements for clear skies overnight while there, as I also plan on shooting photos of the night sky at the same time.
Still it proved to be a good day to be operating my portable station on this morning, with conditions on the bands reasonably good with numerous contacts made.
I also was connected to the APRS network via my Kenwood D72 as seen to the right in the photo, that was set for auto beaconing and was being heard and digipeated by my APRS weather station VE6AB-8 mounted in my mobile a kilometer away from my location.
