VE6AB Portable Ops
Green Power
On this day I have my FT-897D connected to my 30 caliber power can, with the two 12 volt 5 Ah gel cell batteries hooked in parallel being maintained by my solar panel and charge controller.
If you look close at the display, you can see the voltage sitting at 13.9 volts.
The voltage indicates that the batteries are almost full charged.
On this morning my solar panel was more than adequate to keep my 30 caliber batteries charged.
While the radio was in transmit, the voltage dropped back to 13.1 volts, but soon came back up when in receive.

This photo of the power pack and charge controller shows the LED indicating fully charged batteries.
