VE6AB Portable Ops
Heading Out
Early morning finds me headed out with everything I need to operate HF portable.
In my pack is my Yaesu FT-897D with its included internal batteries, as well as the other essentials, including my 10-60 meter vertical antenna required for operating from a remote location.
The complete antenna in its broken down form fits nicely in the pack with the mast pieces and the collapsed whip lashed to the outside as seen protruding from the side of the pack, and all other parts consisting of the tap-coil, coaxial junction box, ground radials, guy lines, and the required coax stored within the external pocket of the pack.
In my hands is my Kenwood D72 that I am looking at making sure that it is communicating with my mobile parked off in the distance.
After getting underway, and as the temperature climbed with the sun heating things up, it wasn't too long before I pealed off my jacket and stored it in the pack.
