KENWOOD TS-480HX - Front side
If you are not familiar with the Kenwood TS-480HX, you may not be aware that the control head is not capable of being attached to the transceiver body. This photo is of the front of the TS-480HX showing the obvious.
Mount your HF rig where there is a lot of air movement. Good air movement is a requirement to keep todays high performance HF rigs happy in a mobile environment. The Kenwood TS-480HX has vents on the front of the transceiver as well as the fans mounted on the rear of the transceiver, providing good air-flow through the unit.
Before the mounting hardware was put in place securing the transceiver to the floor, the area was checked on both sides of the floor making sure that there were no hidden wiring harnesses or other devices that could be damaged.
Another step I take when I have sheet-metal-screws protruding through a body-panel of a vehicle, and the screws are in a area where they are capable of being contacted, I place short pieces of rubber tubing in place over the protruding screws. Besides, it dresses them up, giving them a less ugly appearence.
