VE6AB Mobile Ops
Waning Light Of Day Contact
The waning light of field day finds me working a pass of SO-50 as it comes up on my horizon from the southwest.
There are a group of hams observing my attempt to make a confirmed contact (which I did) with our field day callsign of VE6FAR.
For those not familiar with the procedure to work a satellite, it is required that you wear headphones, as not to get feedback from the downlink audio of the satellite into the microphone causing hate and discontent across 6000 kilometers, the footprint of the satellite.
I have an external speaker placed on the roof of my mobile as seen in the photo so that those observing the goings on can hear the audio coming through the downlink from the satellite.
I also have a short range FM transmitter for broadcast radio activated, allowing you to listen to the downlink audio on any am/fm radio located within a 100 feet of my mobile.
I am uplinking with the Kenwoof D710A mounted in my radio stack, and receiving the downlink audio with a Kenwood D72 HT that includes a Advanced Receiver Research preamp and the 70 centimeter yagi that I am using to track SO-50 with.
Vince VE6LK was manning my camera during the pass.
