VE6AB Mobile Ops
Early Morning Blues
It was a bit chilly on this morning, the thermometer in my mobile indicating -30C not accounting for the slight wind that was also present.
On this morning I was actually shooting photos for a client whom is in the agricultural business, and wanted winter farm scenes shot in southern Alberta.
I spent several days wandering up and down backroads southeast of Calgary capturing the images that I needed to fulfill their needs.
While doing this, I managed to have a mishap that I hadn't managed to do in years, and that was get my mobile stuck!
Yep, that's correct, I went and got stuck and needed the help of one of the locals to pull me out. Mind you, southern Alberta is experiencing one of the snowest winters we've had in a number of years, and the backroads can be challenging to drive on, especially if a snowplow has not gone down them.
That's why you see the shackle still in place on one of the towhooks on the front of my truck, as I thought it might be a good idea to leave it there while I continued on my quest of pushing boundaries while backroading capturing the images I needed.
Its interesting that I have owned a towstrap for a number of years that resides in the cargo bay of my mobile full time, and it hadn't seen any use until this winter. So far this winter this is the second time since I purchased it that I've had to use it, the first time several months ago when I was backroading in Banff Park, and came across a jeep stuck in the ditch that I pulled out with my mobile, then needing it to get myself pulled out recently.
I guess you could say that the towstrap paid for itself this winter!
Here is a recounting of my pulling the jeep out.....
