VE6AB Mobile Ops
Wild Places and RPR HF APRS
Beautiful October morning while exploring the Hand Hills north east of Drumheller AB.
You gotta love it when the prairie is higher than the road your driving on. At least if you fall asleep while driving you'll be ok taking the ditch! Over a 3 hour period of driving I met one other vehicle, so its no place to come unprepared for the unexpected!
The only inhabitants I saw were several small groups of antelope that were grazing on the grasslands as I passed nearby, and were not concerned when I stopped to photograph them, from a distance of course.

In this photo I got to where I'm parked by driving roads through the grasslands bordering the horizon in the distance.
I crossed over the Red Deer river in the valley just behind me on an old one lane girder bridge located near the ghost town of Dorothy AB.
And yes I was being heard and placed on the map at aprs.fi via 30 meter RPR APRS by various HF Gateways located across North America on this morning.
You can run, but you cannot hide while operating RPR HF APRS in your mobile
The 30 meter antenna mounted on the rear of my mobile I designed and built especially for RPR HF APRS operations from my mobile as seen here.....
