VE6AB Mobile Ops
Route Finding
Early morning with sunrise having happened minutes earlier, I had already been on the road for more than two hours after leaving my home in Calgary.
The photo shot from the driving seat of my mobile finds me driving on a backroad that took me through Sibbald Flats and on down to the Kananaskis highway junction just north of Barrier Lake AB.
Conditions were proving to be good on 30 meters with my RPR (Robust Packet Radio) beacons being heard by several HF gateways in the US, one being K4KPN-10 at a distance of 2735 kilometers, and the other N0KWX-3 at a distance of 1821 kilometers, both placing my mobile on Google maps where I later downloaded the track to look at my day's outing.
Of course my travels on this day weren't just about playing radio while out in one of my favorite areas of Alberta, but I also found trains to photograph as well!
