VE6AB Mobile Ops
Recently I installed HF APRS PSK-63 into my mobile, and this is a shot of the screen of my Toshiba netbook that resides in my mobile.
As noted, I am running two APRS applications, one being APRSIS32 configured for conventional FM APRS, and paired up with my Kenwood TM-D710A.
The other is APRS Messenger configured for HF APRS PSK-63 and paired up with my Kenwood TS-480HX.
Both these programs are running simultaneously on my netbook computer.
The photo shows the APRS Messenger application up front, and on the screen you can see the conversation that I had with my friend Bill K7MT located in Helena Montana.
I am enjoying running HF APRS PSK-31 out of my mobile, as it allows me to connect to the HF APRS network from anywhere, like when I am no where's near a conventional digipeater.
The messaging that took place between Bill's location in Helena and my mobile was direct.
Bill also operates an I'Gate and his I'Gate was gating my mobile to the Internet.
Needless to say I am pleased with my new HF APRS mobile station.
For the record, you may notice that the waterfall display is missing, and there is no GPS fix.
I shot the photo inside of my garage after arriving home, and I had just removed my HF antenna.
Click on the photo for a closer look....
Here is a link that displays the setup in my mobile and explaining how it all works.....
