VE6AB Mobile Ops
Mobile Tool Kit
So recently, I met a few of my ham friends for breakfast, and one of the group arrived with a dead vhf/uhf radio in her mobile.
I'm sure we have all been in this position at one time or another, and its not a good feeling, in fact it can be quite stressful going without your radio, until the problem is resolved.
Now being put in this situation, most hams have to wait until they return home, or take their mobile in to someone to look at it, or...well you get the picture.
So returning to my opening line, I said "here let me look at it" and with a full compliment of electronic service tools, and related ham radio parts in my mobile, I was able to quickly diagnose and resolve the problem.
Everyone in the group on that morning, knowing that what I did, or had the capability to do on the spot, they also wanted to be able to do.
We sat down and went over what you need to carry in your mobile, to be able to handle the problems that may crop up, in regards to antenna problems, blown fuses, bad fuse holders, broken wires, etc.
Long story short, I made converts out of this group of hams on that morning.
Bottom line.....don't leave home unprepared for the unexpected.
The title makes reference to maybe the most important piece of kit that is loaded in my mobile when I strike out from home.
That is my tool-kit as seen here with some of the necessities included in my Veto Pro Pac tool bag.
The opposite side also opens up, and includes the tools that make up my electronics kit, ratcheting crimpers, several wire strippers, side-cutters in various sizes, sharp-nose pliers in various sizes, screwdrivers with various tips, butane fired soldering iron with solder and extra tips, and much more not listed here, but listed elsewhere...
In a bind.....
Some of the other tools in my tool-bag.....
