Direction Finding In The Core
Sunrise finds me skirting the edges of downtown Calgary, as I track a radio signal that is giving me a problem getting a fix on the direction of the transmitter, as there is multi-pathing going on what with the signal being re-directed by buildings and other obstructions.
There actually is a learning curve to direction finding a hidden transmitter with multi-pathing happening, and if one pays close attention to the display of the doppler direction finding unit as I am using on this morning, you begin to see a pattern emerge that puts you on the right path to finding the transmitter.
Part of my on going testing of this DDFU required that I place myself in a situation that required I find the transmitter while dealing with obstructions scattering the RF coming from the transmitter that I was searching out.
Downtown Calgary with its buildings causing havoc with the signals proved to be a formidable challenge to my direction finding quest on this morning.
