VE6AB Mobile Ops
Badland Mobile Past and Present
With fog hanging in the air, early morning finds me backroading through the badlands of southeastern Alberta while working the various bands on HF.
After stopping to shoot this image, I realized that I shot a similar photo of my previous mobile about 10 years ago while backroading in the area.
My previous mobile, a 2004 F-150 that I purchased new and drove for 8 years was replaced with my 2012 Avalanche pictured here.
Now the previous photo shot of my F-150 is more tightly cropped, and it was earlier in the morning, but regardless, it was shot from this location with my F-150 parked about 20-30 feet further down the road.
Now the photo of my Avalanche shot on this morning is what I call an environment photo, as I shot the photo to best display the landscape, with my mobile added to give scale to the image
Take a look at a photo of my previous mobile on a early morning outing in this location approximately 10 or more years ago.....

For the record, I still have the linear actuator powered 10-80 meter HF antenna shown mounted on my F-150, and although it mounts on my Av if I wish to run with it, I mainly use the gearmotor antenna shown mounted on the Av on this morning, that I designed and built especially for the Av upon taking possession of it.
All in all a beautiful morning then and now while wandering the backroads of southeastern AB, playing radio and shooting photographs.
